Best Practices
- Always verify SHA256 hashes before applying snapshots to production nodes.
- Run SnapsOS as a non-root user in server environments.
- Use
--quietmode in scripts and automation for clean output. - Keep the binary updated to benefit from the latest features and security fixes.
- Test in interactive mode first, then automate with CLI flags once familiar.
Troubleshooting
- Missing dependencies: Ensure
curl,jq,sed, awk, grep, andtrare installed. - No snapshots found: Verify the chain name and filters are correct. Use interactive mode to browse available options.
- Hash mismatch: Re-download the snapshot and check network stability.
- Permission errors: Ensure the target directory is writable or run with appropriate permissions.
Next Steps
- Use the Marketplace UI: Browse snapshots visually at snapsvault.xyz.
- Contribute Snapshots: Publish your own snapshots using the standardized format.
- Automate with systemd or cron: Schedule regular snapshot updates for fleet management.
